For transport it can be mounted reversed. In this category the Sony FE 35mm 1.4 ZA surely falls short compared to the newer GM lenses.

I’m satisfied with the image quality of my Voigtlander 35mm 1.7 M, although it is in a different price bracket. The image samples from your last review of the Sony 35mm 1.8 also look far more appealing to me than this one. There was another interesting 35mm 1.4 lens released recently from a new company called “TTartisan”.

The Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM lens strikes a balance between excellent image quality and a relatively compact form factor. It is bigger and heavier than f/1.8 options, of course, but it’s honestly surprisingly close to such portable alternatives! Everything on the lens is well-placed and ergonomics are excellent.
